Nechirvan Barzani and al-Sudani stress the importance of continuing constructive dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad

ARK News… The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met on Saturday evening, April 27, 2024, with Federal Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ a al-Sudani in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region said in a statement that the meeting discussed the situation in Iraq in general, and addressed the efforts and steps of the federal government in the service and development fields in accordance with its agenda, with the aim of improving the services and well-being of citizens throughout the country. Pointing out, "The two sides stressed the importance of continuing the constructive dialogue between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government on common issues."

The statement added that the two sides highlighted the latest political developments in the country, and stressed the importance of continuing to support government efforts at the internal and external levels, in addition to strengthening relations between Erbil and Baghdad. In this context, they pointed out the need to support all Iraqi political parties.

The statement pointed out that Federal Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ a al-Sudani considered that the visit of the President of the Kurdistan Region to Baghdad to address all common issues is extremely important. In turn, Nechirvan Barzani expressed his appreciation for the steps taken by the Sudani Prime Minister, and for his insistence on dialogue between all parties in order to achieve Political stability in the country.
