The displaced people of Afrin in Al-Shahba are victims of disputes between the PYD administration and the regime
ARK News… In conjunction with the siege imposed by the Syrian regime on the camps, the displaced people of the Afrin region in the Al-Shahba camps and the Fefin town in the Aleppo countryside, or known as Al-Shahba, suffer from a lack of services and a lack of the most basic necessities of life.
ARK monitored information from its own sources in Al-Shahba on Thursday, November 30, 2023, talking about the existence of multiple crises in the health field and the spread of unemployment and fuel, especially with the advent of winter.
The sources confirmed that the displaced are suffering from the repercussions of the siege imposed on them by the Syrian regime and the regime’s Fourth Division, and that civilians in the camps are paying the price of disputes between the PYD administration and the regime.
The sources explained that the schools were closed due to the lack of fuel, and the displaced people are dissatisfied with the current situation, and are demanding the return of their property and money, but the camps have become like a large prison, according to their description.
The sources continued that the camps are surrounded by a fence by the PYD administration, and no one can leave and enter them except through smuggling, for exorbitant sums.
Recently, hundreds of Kurdish families returned from the camps to their hometown of Afrin, but they face many difficulties until they are able to reach their villages.
Due to the war between Turkey and the PYD administration in Afrin in 2018, more than 300,000 Kurds were displaced from the city of Afrin and its seven districts and villages towards Aleppo, its countryside and other cities, and some of them live so far in five camps in Al-Shahba, where they suffer from a lack of services other than crises. The ongoing siege that afflicts them as a result of the siege imposed on them from time to time.
