Sources for ARK: Areas that have become barren due to the unjust cutting in Afrin
ARK News... an informed source from the Sherawa town of the city of Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan, on Sunday, December 18, 2022, said that various villages and areas in the town have become barren as a result of the unjust cutting.
ARK obtained recordings from Kurdish civilians living in different villages of Sherawa town, who confirmed that the unjust cut-off by the National Army factions and the Arabs who have been resettled continues, without accountability or monitoring.
The sources confirmed that there are areas that have become like a barren desert as a result of the unjust cutting, as the militants cut and uproot them and turn them into firewood and sell them in the regions of Idlib and Izaz.
The organizations confirm that more than one and a half million fruitful and non-fruitful trees, mountain trees, cypresses, and pine trees have been cut down and burned since 2018, and recently the region witnessed a dangerous phenomenon, which is the unjust cutting of tools and mechanisms, in full view of the concerned authorities, and in broad daylight.
The city of Afrin and its seven towns and villages, one of the regions of Syrian Kurdistan, is characterized by its picturesque nature and is known for its abundance of fruitful and non-fruitful trees, as it embraces more than twenty million trees, throughout the region, and since the invasion of Turkey and the factions of the National Army in 2018, the region has turned due to deliberate fires and unjust cutting into barren desert, according to Kurdish activists.
