ARK News... On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, was the fifth anniversary of the departure of the Kurdish poet Farhad Achmo, who is considered one of the most important contemporary Kurdish poets who served Kurdish poetry and literature for more than three decades of work and creativity.

The Kurdish poet and engineer Farhad Achmo departed on June 8, 2017, at the age of 57, after a struggle with a terminal illness, in the city of Qamishlo in Syrian Kurdistan, and his body was buried in the cemetery (Hilaliya neighborhood) west of Qamishlo.

Farhad Achmo was born in the city of Qamishlo, and began his career in the field of poetry in the seventies of the last century, during which he published seven collections of poetry, namely:

Summers - After what - I love you - Cradle 1 - Poetry for children - Cradle 2 - Poetry for children - First cry - White papers.

The late wrote his poems in Kurdish and Arabic and wrote for Qamishlo, love, beauty, women, children, childhood, politics, morals, and religion.

His poems were sung by the great Kurdish artists, such as the late Kurdish artist Muhammad Sheikho, and the artists Shayda, Roni Jan, Bahaa Sheikho, Safkan Orkish, and others.

He has been involved in popular demonstrations in the city of Qamishlo since the beginning of the Syrian revolution, and his name was included in the lists of wanted and prosecuted by the security services of the Syrian regime, which prevented him from traveling for treatment in Damascus, in light of the siege imposed on the city of Qamishlo at the time, according to what was confirmed by well-informed local sources.
