ARK News… The Council of Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate - Syria issued a statement on the eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of the journalist Hozan Abu Zeid, who was assassinated by an armed group affiliated with the YD in the city of Sari Kaniye in Kurdistan, Syria, on November 19, 2012.

It added, "When we recall the memory of the martyr, we want to recall the media people who set up people's issues before their eyes, and wanted to convey the truth to the people as it is until this task was entrusted with paying their lives for these noble values and principles, and the martyr Hozan is the first media martyr in our homeland in Western Kurdistan." Pointing out: "What is sad about the soul is that it has killed those who are supposed to protect journalists and facilitate their tasks, and contribute to the success of their role in society, not to hit them and deport them outside the borders, and the matter has reached their liquidation."

The statement added: "The martyr Hozan had a clear and obvious role in the Kurdish Youth Movement, and he was an active journalist to the extent that he was able to win the confidence of many satellite channels that adopted his videos as reliable news sources within the region in which he was moving within his field of work."

The Council of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate - Syria concluded its statement: We are in the Council of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate - Syria, and on the anniversary of our colleague Hozan Abu Zeid, we pledge to the martyr and our Kurdish people that we will remain loyal to the blood of the media martyrs in Syria, and in western Kurdistan, and we demand the organizations that defend the rights of journalists to do their part to uncover the crime of assassinating the martyr Hozan and bringing the killers to fair courts. Glory to the spirit of the hero martyr Hozan Abu Zeid, and shame to the enemies of the press.
