ARK News: Saudi Newspaper Apologizes for False Report on Barzani’s Wealth
After publishing a report about the wealth of prominent Kurdish leader, Masoud Barzani, a Saudi newspaper has apologized to him and its readers for publishing inaccurate information.
Alwatan Newspaper wrote in a clarification message on Saturday that it could not verify the information it had published in a report about the former president of Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani’s wealth.
The paper said it apologizes to President Barzani for the unintentional mistake, and it promised to investigate the sources which led the paper to publish false information.
Many social media users condemned the report in the early hours after its publication as Barzani is viewed as an inspirational leader who is leading the efforts towards statehood.
