Fears of a Russian-Turkish deal .. Kurdish areas in exchange for Idlib
ARK News: A Syrian Kurdish official source confirmed on Monday, October 21, that the Syrian regime is sending new military reinforcements to areas under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces after the withdrawal of US forces from the region, while there is a fear of a Russian-Turkish deal at the expense of Western Kurdistan (Syrian Kurdistan) in exchange for Idlib.
"The Syrian regime sent military reinforcements to Manbij and Tabqa in the Raqqa countryside and the city of Qamishlo to deploy in the area from which the US forces withdrew," the source, who declined to be identified, told BasNews”.
He added that "US forces will not exit from Syria completely will protect the Syrian border from Iraq and will not allow the entry of terrorist organizations to the region."
The source stressed that "the regime units deployed in Kobani, Qamishlo, and other areas will not be able to protect the region unless there are international guarantees for the entire western Kurdistan in the north of the country where citizens live in great concern."
He pointed out that "Kobani, Manbij, Qamishlo and the rest of the Kurdish areas are now under the influence of Russia and the regime completely after the exit of the Americans."
Meanwhile, local sources from the city of Qamishlo, the arrival of a small batch of Russian troops to the airport of Qamishlo, in what appears to be vanguards of troops arriving in the coming days to deploy in areas regained by the regime in western Kurdistan.
In turn, Russian media sources said that a Russian plane arrived at Qamishlo airport on Monday, carrying a group of Russian officers and experts, who will supervise the implementation of the agreement reached between the regime and the SDF leadership a few days ago concerning the entry of the Syrian army to the east of the Euphrates on the Syrian-Turkish border.
The Kurdish source continued that "the citizens fear that Russia on Tuesday, a deal in the meeting with Putin Erdogan at the expense of Kobani in exchange for Idlib.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss the Turkish operation in Syria during their meeting on Tuesday, Kremlin official Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Monday.
Ushakov added Russia believes that long-term regional stability can only be achieved by restoring Syrian unity and taking into account the interests of all ethnic and regional groups.
