A number of Western and Arab countries condemn the Turkish attack on Kurdistan Syria
ARK News: The Western and Arab condemnations on Wednesday evening trickled of the Turkish ground attack, which began yesterday with an air cover, targeting several points and towns of Syrian Kurdistan.
France, Britain and the Netherlands, as well as the European Union, condemned the Turkish attack, warning of its repercussions on the region and its stability, as well as its contribution to exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country.
The European Union urged Turkey to stop its military operation in northern Syria, saying: They reject Ankara's plans to establish a safe area for refugees and will not provide any assistance there. The EU's 28 member states said in a joint statement on Wednesday that "the EU calls on Turkey to stop its unilateral military operation ... the so-called safe zone in Syrian Kurdistan, which will probably not meet international standards for the return of refugees."
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, and other countries have condemned the Turkish operation, while Qatar has been silent, tweeting out of the Arab squadron.
the UN Security Council, on Thursday, will hold a closed session to discuss the Turkish attack on Syrian Kurdistan.
Western diplomats announced yesterday that the Security Council decided to hold an emergency session to discuss the Turkish attack. Diplomats said that the Security Council will discuss the Syrian file at the request of Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
