ARK News: two days ago, fires are burning trees of the mountains of Khastia in the area of Mabata and the surrounding mountains of Haj Hasna, where so far large areas of forests have been devoured, and fires are still burning without the intervention of the Turkish army and armed groups to put out them.
“Armed groups loyal to the Turkish army deliberately set fire to the mountains of Khastia in the area of Mabata and the fire spread to reach the mountains of the village of Haj Hasna with dense trees to devour more forest trees and olive trees groves, and fires are still burning without the intervention of the Turkish army and armed groups to extinguish them”, a special source from Jenderes Town reported.
"Residents were unable to extinguish the dense fire because of its widespread and the presence of the dry grasses and the density of trees made it spread quickly to the large areas of the forest and olive trees groves, where the fire destroyed the olive trees groves that belonging to citizens, Sabri Hamo, Rashid Osman Sido, and Murad Oso, who have only these orchards, which are their source of income”, according to the same source.
According to private sources from Afrin, that the "armed groups deliberately set fire to the mountains not only in Haj Hasna mountains and orchards, but also deliberately set fire to the mountains of the town of Rajo, Bulbul, Sharan and Sheik El-Hadid, and those fires remained burning for several days until they were extinguished by the residents and with the help of the fire teams of the local Civil Councils in those towns. In the village of Bele, in the town of Bulbul alone, 1,200 olive trees were burned down. The main objective is to destroy the infrastructure of the Afrin region and fight the Kurds for their livelihood."
It is noteworthy that there is some confirmed information from some families that some armed groups deliberately set fire to forests, and the main objective is that residential and tourist areas will be built and firewood will be used in winter, the outbreak of fires in these vital areas is more than a question point and its repetition is to say that there are hidden hands behind these dirty acts to destroy the infrastructure of the region and fighting the Kurds with their livelihood. Citizens in these villages and areas appealed to Humanitarian Organizations and the Turkish authorities to investigate and identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable and put an end to these reprisals against the Kurdish people in Afrin.
