Erdogan: Turkey is unable to establish a safe zone and return refugees alone
ARK News: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented to the United Nations General Assembly the plan to establish a safe zone east of the Euphrates in northern Syria, considering that the completion of this process may allow the return of two million Syrians to their homeland.
In his speech delivered on Tuesday, during the first day of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, he said that his country continues to work with the United States to establish a safe zone 30 km deep and 480 km long.
Erdogan presented to the attendees a map showing the supposed shape of this region, saying: “After it is established, we will be able to return one or two million Syrian refugees to it, either in cooperation with the United States, an alliance or anyone else, but Turkey cannot do it alone. "
"If the safe area is extended to the Deir al-Zour-Raqqa line, we will be able to increase the number of Syrians who will return from our country, Europe and the rest of the world to their homeland to 3 million," he clarified.
