ARK News: Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid al-Moallem on Monday renewed Damascus’s attitude rejecting the possibility of "any Kurdish entity in the northeast of the country."

"No one in Syria accepts any talk about independent or federal entities at all," he said during an interview with students and professors from Damascus University.

He added that the government "sees no alternative to return to the homeland, which opens its arms to all its sons, and the decision of the state is the return of sovereignty over every inch of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic."

Al-Moallem pointed out that "the Syrian Kurds are part of the Syrian fabric," stressing that "the government is ready to talk to them for the benefit of the state”, and he advised everyone “not to be dragged behind the American illusion regarding the status of the future Kurds in the country”.

Syrian Foreign Minister stressed that "the liberation of the province of Idlib from the terrorist organizations is a priority to the Syrian government," pointing out that "Damascus is coordinating its efforts in this regard with Moscow permanently," at the same time al- Moallem accused the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and "terrorists" not to "abide by the Sochi agreement on Idlib."

He added that the Syrian leadership "prefer political dialogue if it achieves the goal of removing Idlib from terrorism," reiterating "the determination of the government to liberate all Syrian territory in full."

The Syrian minister also discussed the implementation of the agreement between Moscow and Ankara on Idlib, accusing the Turkish president and "terrorists" of not complying with this agreement.

A meeting between Russian President, Vladimir Putin and Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Russian city of Sochi on September 17 resulted in the two parties agreeing to establish a demilitarized zone in the province of Idlib along the line of contact between armed factions and government forces, that the Russian and Turkish military patrols have to monitor the ceasefire in the region.
