KDP and PUK Step Up Efforts to Form New Kurdistan Region Government
ARK News.. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have stepped up efforts to accelerate the formation of the Kurdistan Region’s new government and reactivate its constitutional institutions amid sensitive circumstances and ongoing developments in the region and Iraq.
Speaking to reporters, Pishtawan Sadiq, head of the KDP’s Organizational Bureau in Erbil, said that although no final date has been set for announcing the new cabinet, current risks and circumstances require political forces, particularly the KDP and PUK, to act with the highest degree of responsibility to form the government and safeguard stability.
Sadiq acknowledged that the formation of the new government had been delayed beyond the expected timeline following the elections. He said, however, that a tangible positive development was the convergence of the two parties’ positions and the improvement in relations between them.
Sadiq stressed the need to unify efforts to reactivate the Region’s constitutional institutions and reach a final agreement, expressing hope that positive news would soon be delivered to the people of Kurdistan.
