Hani Majali: Syria has become the scene of a series of overlapping proxy wars

ARK News… Hani Majli, a member of the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, confirmed that Syria has become a scene for intersecting proxy wars and a place for testing weapons.

Hani Majli told the United Nations News website: “After 13 years of conflict, the strength of some groups that we thought were defeated (ISIS) is returning and increasing. This year alone, more than 35 attacks occurred.”

The member of the International Investigation Committee on Syria added that Russia and Iran support the Syrian regime, the United States and its partners in the “International Coalition” support the “Syrian Democratic Forces” in northeastern Syria, and Turkey supports opposition groups in the northwest, while Israel targets Iranian militias on the ground, and is pursuing Jordan targeted drug traffickers in the south, considering that Syria “has become the scene of a series of overlapping proxy wars.”

Hani Magli revealed that the intervention of these countries led to the prolongation of the conflict in Syria, which became a place where they could test weapons and use old weapons that they no longer needed to keep.

The UN official stressed that the involvement of foreign armies in Syria is part of the problem, and external intervention does not bring solutions, but rather prolongs the situation, creates a state of stagnation, and an endless cycle of violence.
