ARK News… On Sunday, the US Embassy in Syria condemned Russia's position in protecting Syrian regime President Bashar al-Assad from accountability for human rights violations against civilians, and its continued obstruction of the path to a political solution in Syria.

On the International Day for the Right to the Truth about Human Rights Violations, the US Embassy in Syria published a statement in which it said: “Russia repeatedly continues to protect Bashar al-Assad from accountability for his gross human rights violations, including obstructing the work of the Constitutional Committee, which is the first step toward a settlement.” A policy consistent with Security Council Resolution No. 2254.

The embassy added that Russia continues to spread disinformation and propaganda to discredit victims of atrocities in Syria and obstruct efforts to address ongoing violations.

It also stressed that the United States, 13 years after the start of the Syrian revolution, praises and supports those who continue to strive to reach a political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrians.

It pointed out that the Syrians are still demanding change and looking for support and solidarity and have not given up.
