ARK News… The United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria, Adam Abdel Mawla, on Friday, appealed to provide more than $4 billion in life-saving aid to more than 10 million Syrians, adding: The largely forgotten crisis in the country remains “one of the deadliest crises for civilians in the world.”

Abdel Mawla made this appeal days after Syria celebrated the thirteenth anniversary of the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, and the Syrian regime and its allies launched military operations that claimed the lives of nearly half a million people and destroyed large parts of the country.

Abdel Mawla said that about 16.7 million people need some form of humanitarian assistance in Syria, an increase from 15.3 million last year.

"There are more than 7 million internally displaced people, and an almost equal number of refugees in other neighboring countries, including Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey," he added.

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator explained that the United Nations is seeking $4.07 billion to provide life-saving aid to 10.8 million Syrians.
