Afrin… Two Kurds released three years after they were kidnapped

ARK News… The armed factions in the Afrin region of Syrian Kurdistan have released two young Kurdish men, three years after their abduction, according to what activists published on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.

Kurdish activists from Afrin said: The pro-Turkish armed factions released the two Kurdish youths, Abdeen Ali Hamo and Horik Rashid Silo, from Al-Ra'i prison in the northern countryside of Aleppo, three years after their abduction in Afrin.

Al-Ra’i is a town located in the northern countryside of Aleppo and is currently under the control of Turkey and the armed factions. It has a central prison, as most of the detainees are transferred from Afrin and other cities there.

Activists confirmed that the two Kurdish youths hail from the village of “Şiltate” of Shara town of the Kurdish region of Afrin.

The city of Afrin and its seven towns and villages - except for 12 villages in the Sherawa area, adjacent to the towns of Nubil and Zahra - were under the control of Turkey and the armed factions on March 18, 2018. Since that time, violations against the remaining Kurdish civilians have continued. Thousands of Kurds have been subjected to kidnappings and arbitrary arrests on flimsy charges, with the aim of obtaining ransom money in exchange for the release of the kidnapped, while the fate of hundreds is still unknown.
