In numbers... ARK publishes the latest statistics for Syrian refugees in Kurdistan Region and Iraq

ARK News… ARK News received a copy of the new statistic, for the number of Syrian Kurdish and Arab refugees in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, as it was published by the United Nations High Commissioner in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

According to the UNHCR, the number of refugees in the Kurdistan Region until December 2020: 241,682 refugees, while the number of families: 72,526 distributed over the governorates of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

The total number of refugees in Erbil (the city center, its environs, and its affiliated camps): 122,666
Number of refugees in Erbil and its environs (outside the camps): 92,740

Darashakran Camp: 11641
Qushtapa Camp: 8282
Kawergosik Camp: 7746
Basirma camp: 2257

Duhok governorate: 84188, number of families in it: 22420
Domiz Camp: 30680
Duhok city center and its environs (outside the camps): 28160
Domiz 2 camp, known as Fayida camp: 10840

Gwelan Camp: 9161
Bardarash Camp: 4276
Akre Camp: 1071

Sulaimaniyah Governorate: 31313
Number of families in it: 9913
City Center and Suburbs: 22689

As for the rest of the Iraqi regions and governorates: 3515, the number of families: 1488.

Because of the war that broke out in Syria in 2011, millions of Syrians, Kurds, and Arabs sought refuge in Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, the Kurdistan Region, and European countries, while they witnessed a mass displacement of more than ten million.
