Aleppo: Syrian Democratic Forces Accused of Abducting Kurdish Minor in Sheikh Maqsoud

Mar 25 2025

ARK News.. Continuing a policy of child intimidation and forced recruitment in areas under their control, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reportedly abducted a Kurdish minor from the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo.

According to a private source cited by ARK News, militants from the Revolutionary Youth affiliated with the SDF, abducted 15-year-old Malak Kawa Abdo, born in 2010, on Monday, March 24, 2025, while she was returning home from school in Sheikh Maqsoud, Aleppo.

The abducted minor is originally from the village of Badina in the Rajo town of Afrin.

Despite the agreement signed by SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi with Virginia Gamba, the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, to end and prevent the recruitment of children under 18 and their involvement in military operations, the practice of forcibly enlisting minors in armed conflict continues.
