Qamishlo: Activists call for participation in a solidarity stand with the farmers
ARK News… A group of Kurdish civil society activists called on the Kurdish masses to participate in a solidarity stand in protest against the PYD administration’s decision to price wheat.
The activists sent an invitation to “all spectrums of farmers, peasants, civil organizations, writers, intellectuals, politicians, independents, and media professionals” to participate in the solidarity stand with the farmers.
According to the text of the invitation, the protest will be held on Wednesday at six in the evening at Munir Habib roundabout in Qamishlo.
Protests denouncing the PYD administration’s decision to price wheat continue in the cities and towns of Syrian Kurdistan and other areas under its control, especially in the cities of Amouda and Derbasiya in Syrian Kurdistan.
On Sunday, 25/5/2024, the PYD administration set the price of a kilo of wheat at (31) cents, subject to the numerical grading system for the 2024 season, noting that in previous years the price of wheat was as follows: in 2023 it was 43 cents, and in 2022 it was 55. Cents, this is a major decline and has serious consequences for the residents of the region.
