Bashar al-Assad comments on rapprochement with Turkey
ARK News... In his first comment on the rapprochement between Ankara and the Syrian regime after a break that lasted 11 years, the head of the Syrian regime said that the meetings should be based on ending the Turkish occupation.
Bashar al-Assad, head of the Syrian regime, said after his meeting with the Russian special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, that in order for these meetings to be fruitful, they must be based on prior coordination and planning between the Syrian regime and Russia in order to reach tangible goals and results from these meetings.

ARK News... A communiqué, on January 13, 2023, was issued about the meeting of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria. ARK has received a copy of the communication, which reads:
The Central Committee of our Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria held a regular meeting on the 12th and 13th of this month in Erbil.
The meeting began its work with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs of the Kurds and Kurdistan, led by the immortal Mustafa Barzani, the martyr Idris Barzani and the martyrs of the Syrian revolution, in the presence of members of the party leadership in the Kurdistan Region, Turkey, and Europe, and the presence of the comrades of the leadership inside Syria via an online platform, because the PYD militants prevented our comrades from entering the Kurdistan Region through the Semalka crossing.
The meeting focused mainly on preparing for the party conference that was scheduled to be held in the near future, the necessary preparations for that, and the means to ensure its success after the convening was delayed due to many circumstances.
The agenda of the meeting included a number of organizational issues of interest to the party's development in the next stage in order to enrich its performance and effectiveness, and development mechanisms between its various organizations, which would enhance its national role.
On the political side, the meeting assessed the events and developments taking place in Syria and the region. It expressed its interest in the difficult and disastrous conditions in Syria, at various levels, amid the horrific deterioration of living conditions, and the Syrian file remaining a show of international and regional tensions without any international will for a political solution, and the Syrian file remains a show of international and regional tensions without any international will for a political solution and an end to the tragedy of the Syrians. The meeting discussed the situation of our people under the PYD administration, which practices abuse and pressure on the remaining of our people, especially the Kurdish youth, to emigrate and empty the Kurdish region of its people, and the recent arrest of our party activists, Mr. Hussein Suleiman, a member of the Central Committee of the party, and both Adnan Ramo and Blind Mulla Ismail, members the Area Council of the party and the members of the Kurdish National Council and spreading the phenomenon of poverty and destitution against the people, and looting and stealing agricultural and oil resources and others.
The meeting discussed ways to develop the Kurdish National Council in Syria and improve its struggle performance in the arena of Syrian Kurdistan.
The meeting also affirmed its rejection of any form of demographic change in Syria in general and the Kurdish regions in particular.
The meeting looked with interest at the conference of the brotherly Kurdistan Democratic Party that was held recently in Duhok, and looked forward to drawing lessons from the conference, which succeeded thanks to the wise leadership of His Excellency President Masoud Barzani, and thanked the brotherly party for hosting the leadership of our party and providing all facilities for the success of the meeting in Erbil, the capital.
The meeting also valued the unity of two Kurdish parties in eastern Kurdistan, under the name of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Iran, and denounced the Iranian regime's terrorist practices against the Iranian people, and in particular against the Kurdish people who ignited the Iranian uprising with the blood of the Kurdish martyr Jina Amini.
The party leadership also assigned Mr. Muhammad Ismail as an official spokesman until the party conference.

آرك نيوز... صدر الليلة 13 كانون الثاني 2023، بلاغ عن اجتماع اللجنة المركزية للحزب الديمقراطي الكوردستاني- سوريا. وتلقت ARK نسخة من البلاغ جاء فيه:
عقدت اللجنة المركزية لحزبنا الديمقراطي الكوردستاني- سوريا اجتماعاً اعتيادياً يومي 12 و 13 من الشهر الجاري في هولير.
استهل الاجتماع بدء أعماله بدقيقة صمت على أرواح شهداء الكورد وكوردستان، وفي المقدمة منهم الخالد مصطفى البارزاني، والشهيد إدريس البارزاني وشهداء الثورة السورية بحضور أعضاء قيادة الحزب في إقليم كوردستان وتركيا وأوروبا، وحضور رفاق القيادة في الداخل السوري عبر منصة أون لاين بسبب منع مسلحي الـ ب ي د رفاقنا من دخول إقليم كوردستان عبر معبر سيمالكا.
تركّز الاجتماع بشكل أساسي على التحضير لمؤتمر الحزب الذي تقرّر انعقاده خلال الفترة القريبة القادمة، والتحضيرات اللازمة لذلك والسبل الكفيلة لنجاحه بعد تأخير الانعقاد لظروف عديدة.
تضمّن جدول عمل الاجتماع عدداً من المواضيع التنظيمية التي تهمُّ تطوّر الحزب في المرحلة القادمة بغية إغناء أدائه وفعاليته، وآليات التطوير بين مختلف منظماته، والتي من شأنها أن تعزّز من دوره الوطني والقومي.
في الجانب السياسي قيّم الاجتماع الأحداث والمستجدّات الجارية في سوريا والمنطقة، فقد أبدى اهتمامه بالأوضاع الصعبة والكارثية في سوريا، وعلى مختلف الصعد، وسط التدهور المريع للأوضاع المعيشية، وبقاء الملف السوري عرضاً للتجاذبات الدولية والإقليمية دون أية إرادة دولية للحل السياسي، وإنهاء مأساة السوريين، كذلك تمَّ التطرُّق إلى التقارب الأخير بين تركيا والنظام السوري، برعاية روسية وتأثير ذلك على المعارضة السورية، حيث أكد الاجتماع أن القضية السورية باتت قضية دولية، وإن الحل السياسي الشامل وفق القرار الأممي ٢٢٥٤ هو في مصلحة جميع الأطراف إضافة إلى الشعب السوري، وكذلك ملايين السوريين المُهجّرين في تركيا، وإن أي حل خارج إطار الأمم المتحدة لن ينهي مأساة السوريين، ولن يجلب الحل السياسي لسوريا، كما توقّف الاجتماع على معاناة أهلنا في عفرين وسري كانييه وكري سبي وباقي المناطق والضغوطات التي يتعرّضون لها من قبل بعض الفصائل المسلحة، وأكّد الاجتماع على ضرورة تمهيد الظروف من أجل عودة أهلنا إلى ديارهم، وإعادة ممتلكاتهم لهم، وتوفير الأمن والأمان لهم.
بحث الاجتماع وضع شعبنا في ظل إدارة ب ي د التي تمارس التنكيل والضغط على مَن تبقّى من أبناء شعبنا وخاصة الشباب الكردي للهجرة وإفراغ المنطقة الكردية من أهلها، واعتقال مناضلي حزبنا مؤخراً الأستاذ حسين سليمان عضو اللجنة المركزية للحزب، وكلٍّ من عدنان رمو وبلند ملا إسماعيل أعضاء اللجنة المنطقية للحزب وأعضاء المجلس الوطني الكردي، وإشاعة ظاهرة الفقر والعوز بحقّ الشعب، ونهب وسرقة الموارد الزراعية والنفطية وغيرها.
تطرّق الاجتماع إلى السبل الكفيلة لتطوير المجلس الوطني الكردي في سوريا، وتحسين أدائه النضالي على ساحة كوردستان سوريا.
كما أكد الاجتماع على رفضه لأيِّ شكل من أشكال التغيير الديمغرافي في سوريا عموماً والمناطق الكردية على وجه الخصوص.
ونظر الاجتماع باهتمام إلى مؤتمر الحزب الديمقراطي الكوردستاني الشقيق الذي عقد مؤخراً في دهوك، وتطلّع إلى استلهام الدروس التي استخلصها المؤتمر الذي نجح بفضل القيادة الحكيمة لفخامة الرئيس مسعود بارزاني، وشكر الحزب الشقيق على استضافة قيادة حزبنا وتقديم كلّ التسهيلات من أجل إنجاح الاجتماع في هولير العاصمة.
كما ثمّن الاجتماع وحدة حزبين كرديين في شرقي كوردستان، تحت اسم الحزب الديمقراطي الكوردستاني- ايران، وندّد بممارسات النظام الإيراني الإرهابية بحقّ الشعوب الإيرانية، وعلى وجه الخصوص بحقّ الشعب الكردي الذي أشعل الانتفاضة الإيرانية بدماء الشهيدة الكردية جينا اميني.
كما كلّفت قيادة الحزب الأستاذ محمد إسماعيل ناطقاً رسمياً حتى انعقاد مؤتمر الحزب.

The PYD administration imposes new taxes on companies, factories, and food stores
ARK News... In continuation of its policies aimed at emptying Syrian Kurdistan of its population and bringing about demographic change, the PYD administration imposed new taxes on companies, factories, and food stores.
The following are the taxes imposed by the PYD administration:
$250 tax on bakeries
$300 hotel tax.
A tax of 500 US dollars on money exchange shops, goldsmith shops, contractors, printing presses, furniture showrooms, mills, poultry farms, shops selling and installing solar energy, and foodstuff trade (wholesale).
$1,000 tax on trading companies, factories, resorts, large chicken slaughterhouses, quarries, inland shipping offices, and automobile offices.
$1,500 tax on fine-dining restaurants
A tax of $2,500 on money transfer and exchange shops, car showrooms, and international shipping offices.
A tax of 3 million Syrian pounds on stadiums.
A tax of 200,000 Syrian pounds on dentists’ clinics and the rest of the clinics. The tax is paid according to the inspections.
A tax of 500,000 Syrian pounds for engineers and 15,000 Syrian pounds for a single agency for lawyers, while the tax imposed on pharmacies was one million Syrian pounds.
The PYD administration's imposition of these taxes resulted in widespread popular discontent in the cities and towns of Syrian Kurdistan.

Iran… global condemnations of executions and a call for an "uprising against the regime's crimes"
The statement condemned the brutal repression and killing of innocent people, especially in the provinces of Kurdistan and Baluchistan
More than 700 international cultural figures have condemned the executions in Iran and called for an "uprising against the regime's crimes."
Among these 700 people are the names of famous writers and members of the International PEN Association (PEN) branches in Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, as well as Iranian cultural and artistic personalities inside and outside Iran.
According to the authors of this statement, literary and artistic figures in the world referred in their letter to 40 court rulings such as "corruption on earth" and "haraba" and killing protesters "in the harshest way."
The statement condemned the brutal repression and killing of innocent people, especially in the provinces of Kurdistan and Baluchistan. The statement called on international human rights institutions, intellectuals, academics, and the international community to prevent the continuation of the "killing" during the protests in any way possible.
Earlier, dozens of Hollywood stars and film industry activists, including Cate Blanchett, Jason Momoa, and Samuel L. Jackson, called in a video message for a halt to the executions of imprisoned protesters in Iran.
On Thursday, Amnesty International called on the Iranian regime to immediately stop all executions related to the protests taking place in the country. In a statement, the organization condemned what it described as the "arbitrary" execution of both Muhammad Mahdi Karami and Sayed Muhammad Hosseini, warning that there are others facing the same fate.
At the same time, 500 academic, civil, and human rights activists in Iran signed a letter calling for a halt to the issuance and execution of death sentences against those arrested during the protests.
Concerns about the execution of protesters escalated, while human rights organizations and activists warned that at least 100 citizens arrested during the protests that swept the country had been sentenced to death or were facing the death penalty.
The Iranian newspaper "Jivan" confirmed that the regime has arrested about 11,000 demonstrators since the start of the protests about 4 months ago, after the killing of the Kurdish young woman, Mahsa Amini, and the Iranian newspaper claimed that a large number of protesters, 80%, had been released.

A security man was killed and two wounded in an armed attack in southeastern Iran

The commander of the Internal Security Forces in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, southeastern Iran, Muhammad Qanbari, on Thursday announced the death of security personnel and the wounding of two others in an armed attack.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Qanbari as saying that the armed attack targeted a checkpoint on a road between the cities of Zahedan and Khash.
Qanbari added that the gunmen fled after being shot by security forces in response to the attack.
Cease all executions
On Thursday, Amnesty International called on the Iranian regime to immediately stop all executions related to the protests taking place in the country. In a statement, the organization condemned what it described as the "arbitrary" execution of both Muhammad Mahdi Karami and Sayed Muhammad Husseini, warning that there are others facing the same fate.
Diana El-Tahawy, deputy director of the regional office for the Middle East and North Africa at the organization, said that the Tehran regime's continuation of the killing spree and its endeavor to end the protests by spreading fear among the people is "abhorrent".
El-Tahawy added, "The arbitrary execution of Muhammad Mahdi Karami and Sayed Muhammad Husseini, a few days after their death sentence was upheld, reveals the extent to which the Iranian authorities continue to use the death penalty as a weapon of repression."
The UN human rights official had said that the Iranian government was using the death penalty as a weapon to spread fear among citizens and eliminate dissent, adding that the executions amounted to "state-mandated killings".
