Al-Assad's foreign minister stipulates "ending the occupation and stopping supporting terrorism" to meet the Turkish side
ARK News… Al-Assad's Foreign Minister, Faisal Al-Miqdad, linked any meetings with the Turkish side to what he called "the foundations of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, ending the occupation, and stopping support for terrorism."
Al-Miqdad said during a press conference held with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian that relations between the regime and Turkey were normal before 2011, stressing that the regime seeks in all its moves and efforts to "end terrorism" that has disturbed these relations, as he described it.
Al-Miqdad stressed that the meeting with the Turkish leadership depends on removing the causes that led to the current situation.
For his part, "Abdullahian" stressed the need to "respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states," adding that his country will continue its diplomatic efforts to bring rapprochement and solve the outstanding problems between the Assad regime and Turkey.
Abdullahi added: The relations between Iran and Syria are going through their best conditions, and the two countries are determined to expand them economically and commercially to reach the level of political relations.
Al-Miqdad pointed out that what he described as "American looting" of our oil and agricultural capabilities prevents securing the needs of the Syrian people, continuing: "We say to those who cut off water from our people that this policy of theirs will soon come to an end."
The criminal Bashar Al-Assad received this afternoon the Iranian Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation in the capital, Damascus, and expressed that his regime is keen on continuous communication and coordination of positions with Iran on a permanent basis.

The Syrian Journalists Association calls for the activist's release
ARK News… The "Syrian Journalists Association" called on the Turkish authorities to release the journalist "Khalid Al-Homsi" and stop the practices and pressures they exerted to force him to sign a request for voluntary return to Syria. Many Syrians are covered by temporary protection in Turkey, even though the forced deportation constitutes a clear violation of human rights principles and relevant international treaties.
The statement indicated that the insistence of the Turkish authorities to deport Syrians to Syria seems unacceptable in light of the fact that all international bodies still consider Syria an unsafe country, and Turkish law (the law of foreigners and international protection) categorically prohibits the deportation of any person to a place where his life or dignity is threatened.
The Association affirmed its solidarity with the journalist "Khalid Al-Homsi" and with all the Syrians who are forced to return, appealing at the same time to all human rights organizations and those interested in the Turkish and Syrian media affairs to intervene in order to end the suffering of the colleague Al-Homsi and release him to return him to his family residing in the Turkish city of Urfa and protect him from the great danger that he faces.
It also called for the need to keep the file of the Syrian refugees in Turkey as a purely humanitarian file and not to exploit it in Turkish internal politics, while appreciating all the services and facilities provided by the Turkish government and people to the Syrians during the previous years.
The report made recommendations to the Turkish government to end arbitrary deportations of Syrian refugees, ensure that violence is not used against them, investigate “voluntary return” forms, and allow UNHCR to monitor deportations.

Tunisia... The opposition is demonstrating against the president and Saeed: There is no place for traitors
ARK News… Hours before these demonstrations, President Kais Saied wandered Habib Bourqiba Street and said whoever accuses the country of police and dictatorship is the one who wants to destroy it.
The Tunisian Ministry of Interior, on Saturday, said, in two brief statements, that security dealings with the protests in the capital took place under normal conditions.
Saturday, on the 12th anniversary of the fall of the late President Zane El Abidin Bin Ali's regime, opposition forces took to the streets in Tunisia to express their rejection of President Kais Saied's project and demand early presidential elections.
Hours before these demonstrations, President Kais Saied wandered, on Friday evening, on Habib Bourqiba Street, and said that "there is no place for traitors and agents in the country," adding that "those who accuse the country of police and dictatorship are the ones who want to destroy it."
Throughout this week, the al-Nahda Movement, which is leading these demonstrations, called on Tunisians to go down to participate massively in this protest, denouncing the measures taken by President Saied since July 25, 2021, and the deteriorating economic conditions, as well as to demand that he step down from power and organize early presidential elections.
Riots
Hours before the start of the protest marches, the security forces deployed in all the main streets in the center of the capital to secure these demonstrations. The Ministry of the Interior called on the protesting parties to respect the specific routes and times and to take responsibility for framing their followers to prevent bickering, riots, and the exchange of violence between them.
Through these sporadic protest movements, opponents of President Kais Saied, who do not recognize the constitution that he approved in a referendum on July 25, or the results of the parliamentary elections that took place last month, are trying to return to power and involve them in the political process and the road map for the next stage.
On the other hand, Saied is moving forward with the implementation of the road map that he set, despite the criticism leveled at him about the low turnout during the first round of the parliamentary elections and the calls for their postponement this January.
A few days ago, Saeed accused his opponents of "standing behind the crises" in the country, and of trying to strike state institutions. These conditions cannot continue, and they will not remain unpunished within the framework of the law."

Britain plans to supply Ukraine with main battle tanks
ARK News… The commander of the Ukrainian ground forces denied firing missiles from Belarus.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that his country intends to send main battle tanks to Ukraine along with additional artillery support, according to Sunak's office.
"They agreed on the need to seize this moment by accelerating global military and diplomatic support for Ukraine," a spokesman for Sunak said.
He added: "The Prime Minister has made clear the UK's ambition to intensify our support to Ukraine, including through the provision of additional Challenger 2 tanks and artillery systems."
Major infrastructure
Several explosions sounded in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on Saturday morning, while Ukrainian officials confirmed that the bombing targeted major infrastructure.
Al-Arabiya correspondent reported that news from Kyiv indicated that one of the missiles in the attacks on Saturday was a ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
The deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Kirillo Timoshenko, said on Telegram that "a missile attack on vital infrastructure facilities" in Kyiv is continuing, while the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, spoke of explosions in the Dnipro region, urging residents to "stay in shelters."
While Ukrainian media reported ballistic missiles launched from Belarus towards Kyiv, the commander of the Ukrainian ground forces denied firing missiles from Belarus.
In addition, the governor of Kharkiv confirmed that industrial facilities and vital energy facilities were damaged due to the Russian strikes. The Governor of Mykolaiv also noted that "the take-off of 17 Russian Tupolev bombers was monitored."
This comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky intends to visit the United Nations to address a high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the eve of the first anniversary of the outbreak of war in his country on February 24 if the security situation permits, according to a senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Friday.
Serious attack in February
The first deputy foreign minister of Ukraine, Amina Japarova, warned in an interview with the agency "Associated Press" that many factors must be taken into account.
In this context, Japarova primarily referred to the military situation on the ground, and a warning from Ukraine's intelligence service that Russia was planning a "very dangerous attack in February".
"Our president wants to come (to the UN)," Japarova said. "He has the will or intention to come, but the question is still whether there is a security situation that will allow him to come."
If Zelensky comes to the United Nations, it will be only his second visit outside Ukraine since Russia launched its military operation.
Ukrainian draft resolution in the Security Council
For his part, Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations, Sergey Kislitsa, said that the General Assembly has already decided to hold high-level talks on the war on February 23, which will be followed by a ministerial meeting of the Security Council on February 24.
Japarova said Ukraine would like the council to adopt one of the two resolutions that Zelensky wants to approve on the eve of the anniversary of the start of the war.
In the same context, Japarova said that Ukraine is consulting with its partners on the two measures, one that would support the president's 10-point peace formula that includes restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity and the withdrawal of Russian forces, and the other would establish a court to try crimes of aggression, which would hold Russia accountable the responsibility for its operation.
An American institute confirms Russia's control of Soledar
These developments come as the Russian army announced, on Friday, that it had completed extending its control over Soledar in eastern Ukraine, which was denied by Kyiv, which confirmed that "fierce battles" were still taking place in this small town.
"The fight for Soledar continues," the Ukrainian General Staff said in its evening report, without adding any details.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, "The liberation of Soledar was completed on the evening of January 12," noting the importance of controlling this town in the context of "continuing successful offensive operations."
The Institute for the Study of War, which is based in the United States, considered that controlling this small town "is unlikely to mean an imminent encirclement of Bakhmut."
Russian forces have been seeking for months to control the town of Bakhmut, 15 km southwest of Soledar.
The institute stressed that "the Russian forces will not be able to extend their control over the important land lines of communication" that link them to the largest city in the region.
In its daily bulletin, the Institute for the Study of War noted that "Russian forces most likely (actually) took control of Soledar on January 11.
To support its hypothesis, the institute refers to "geographically documented images published on January 11 and 12", which it considered "indicating that the Russian forces likely control most of Soledar's territory, if not the entire town, and likely pushed the Ukrainian forces to retreat outside its western suburbs."

The US State Department vows to hold the Iranian regime accountable for suppressing the protests
ARK News... “Negotiations for the Iran nuclear deal are not currently on its agenda.”
The US State Department confirmed that it will hold the Iranian regime accountable for killing its people and the brave protesters.
The US State Department pointed out that the Iranian regime has caused chaos in the region and the world, while the US State Department pointed out that negotiations for the Iranian nuclear agreement are not currently on its agenda.
Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the US Congress, welcomed Britain's intention to classify the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as an "international terrorist organization".
The Revolutionary Guard is a terrorist group
"The IRGC is a terrorist group that has the blood of countless innocent lives on its hands due to its terrorist acts and violence inside Iran, in the Middle East, and around the world," Menendez said in a tweet on his Twitter account.
He added, "I am encouraged to see that the UK government will soon designate the IRGC as it applies to it."
Menendez's comment comes a day after Leo Docherty, Secretary of State at the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed to Parliament on Thursday that Britain is considering designating the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as a terrorist organization, but has not yet taken a final decision on this regard.
"I would be wrong to speculate ... about the outcome of the study that the government is currently conducting on this issue, and it is a study that is being done seriously," Docherty said during a discussion of the situation in Iran, during which some members called for the IRGC to be banned.

The Iranian judiciary announces the execution of the British-Iranian citizen, Ali Reza Akbari
ARK News… Reports say that the execution of the British-Iranian citizen, Ali Reza Akbari, took place several days ago.
The Iranian judiciary, on Saturday, announced the execution of the British-Iranian citizen, Ali Reza Akbari, while the Associated Press said that reports indicate that Akbari's execution took place several days ago.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his deep dismay at Tehran's execution of British-Iranian Ali Akbari, and considered his execution in Iran "a cruel and terrorist act of a barbaric regime."
The British government summoned the Iranian charge d’Affairs over Akbari's execution.
In turn, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly stressed that the execution of Ali Reza Akbari in Iran deserves condemnation in all respects.
The United States joined the United Kingdom in calling on Iran not to carry out the expected death sentence against an Iranian-British citizen on charges of espionage.
The "Mizan Online" website affiliated with the Iranian judiciary announced, on Wednesday, that Ali Reza Akbari had been sentenced to "death on charges of corruption on earth, for harming the country's internal and external security by transmitting intelligence information" to the United Kingdom.
Political motives
"The charges against Akbari and his death sentence are politically motivated, and his execution will be unacceptable," said US State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel, pointing to "the possibility that his execution will be imminent."
During a press conference, he called for his "immediate release" and denounced reports "that Akbari was drugged and tortured while in detention, interrogated for thousands of hours and forced to confess."
On Thursday, the official IRNA news agency confirmed that Alireza Akbari (61 years old) held high positions in the Iranian security and defense apparatus.
The British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has condemned the ruling and called on Tehran not to execute the British-Iranian citizen, and considered that the ruling "has political motives."
Britain warns
On Friday, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that Iran should not carry out its threat to execute the British-Iranian citizen, Ali Akbari Reza. "The Iranian regime should have no doubts. We are following Alireza Akbari's case very closely," Cleverly said on Twitter.
On Wednesday, Cleverly called for the immediate release of Ali Reza Akbari, who was sentenced to death by the Iranian regime on charges of spying for Britain.
The official Islamic Republic News Agency published a video clip yesterday, Thursday, which it said showed that the British-Iranian citizen, Ali Reza Akbari, played a role in the assassination of the country's top nuclear scientist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, in 2020.

Politician to ARK: The goal of Turkish normalization with the regime is to end the existence of the SDF, and the opposition has become a tool in Turkey's hands
ARK News... Kurdish politician Marwan Eidi, on Friday, January 13, 2023, said that it is possible that Turkey will agree to the conditions of the Syrian regime regarding rapprochement, but implementation remains difficult.
He pointed out that the rapprochement is in the interest of the two parties, and Turkey is seeking to withdraw the card of the refugee file from the Turkish opposition, and the aim of the Turkish rapprochement is to end the presence of the Syrian Democratic Forces and return the Syrian refugees.
He continued that Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to meet with the head of the Syrian regime, and it is not unlikely that Turkey will concede and acquiesce to the regime's conditions and withdraw from some areas.
He explained during his participation in the ARK newsletter that the demonstrations that take place in opposition areas will not affect the decision of normalization, because the opposition, in both its political and military parts, is controlled by Turkey and has changed its compass from overthrowing the regime to implementing Turkey's agendas in Azerbaijan and Libya, and has become a tool in its hand.
He pointed out that Turkey strongly opposes the presence of an Autonomous Administration on its borders in Syrian Kurdistan, so it seeks in one way or another to end the existence of the SDF and its administration, even at the expense of its withdrawal from some areas.
At the end of his speech, he said that the Turkish rapprochement with the Syrian regime has negative repercussions and effects on the existence of the Kurdish people, who will be more vulnerable to demographic change, and the major victims of normalization are the Syrian and Kurdish peoples.
