President Barzani: The will of the Kurdish people will remain stronger than any weapon or genocide

ARK News… Today, Tuesday, April 16, 2024, President Masoud Barzani issued a statement on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the chemical attack on Balisan, Sheikh Sinan, and Khoshnawati Valley.

President Barzani said in a tweet on the “X” platform, viewed by (BassNews): “On the 37th anniversary of the chemical attack on Balisan, Sheikh Sanan, and Khoshnawati Valley by the former Iraqi regime, the will of the Kurdish people will remain stronger than any weapon, genocide, or crime.”

He added, "On this occasion, we raise our highest veneration to the souls of the martyrs of this crime and all the martyrs of Kurdistan."

The former Iraqi regime, 37 years ago, had bombed the areas of Balisan, Sheikh Sanan, and Khoshnawati Valley with chemical weapons, leaving 263 martyrs and more than 620 injured. The regime also later launched a bombardment with toxic gases on the city of Halabja and other areas of the Kurdistan Region, which led to martyrdom and injury. Thousands of civilians, most of them women, children and oldmen.
