ARK News… A number of Lebanese parties and parliamentary blocs called for the implementation of a decisive plan aimed at deporting Syrian refugees to their country.

The parties issued a statement demanding the implementation of an urgent and decisive plan to return Syrians illegally residing on Lebanese territory to their country.

The statement called for the implementation of the agreement signed with the UNHCR in 2003, which does not consider Lebanon a country of asylum, considering that the presence of Syrians undermines the foundations of the United Nations entity and constitutes a “time bomb that is on the verge of exploding.”

The statement also stressed the need to strengthen control over the entire border with Syria, work to control legal crossings, and close all illegal crossings, through which the smuggling of weapons, people, money, goods, contraband, and criminals continues.

In turn, the French newspaper Le Monde said in its report that the deportation of Syrian refugees from Lebanon has become a declared priority for the Lebanese government.

The newspaper pointed out that a wave of hostility towards Syrians has escalated since the beginning of the serious economic crisis, which has caused unprecedented impoverishment and a boom in illegal immigration.
