The writer Luqman Youssef receives the Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union Award

ARK News... Kurdish writer Luqman Youssef received the Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union Award during a ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Union.

The Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union, on Thursday, November 16celebrated the tenth anniversary of its founding in the city of Qamishlo.

The ceremony was attended by Muhammad Ne'mat Daoud, Chairman of the Kurdish National Council, Muhammad Ismail, Secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, a number of leaders of the Kurdish National Council, and a large gathering of intellectuals and political figures.

The Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union posted on its official Facebook page that, “This year, the award committee chose the writer Luqman Youssef due to his efforts in serving the Kurdish language and literature.”

The writer Luqman Youssef, former president of the Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union, was born in the village of Tal Shair in the city of Tirbaspiye in 1965. He holds a degree in literature from the University of Aleppo, French Language Department.
