A statement from ENKS media in Afrin explaining a series of interviews with Dr. Abdel Hakim Bachar in the city and its countryside

ARK News… The media of the Kurdish National Council in the city of Afrin, in Syrian Kurdistan, published a statement about the series of meetings of Dr. Abdul Hakim Bashar, a member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, and Vice President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, to the city of Afrin and its countryside. ARK has received a copy of the statement, which reads:

Dr. Abdel Hakim Bachar, Vice-President of the National Coalition for Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, visited the city of Afrin on Monday, 14/08/2023, and he, with a delegation that included Mr. Ahmed Hassan, the representative of the Kurdish National Council for Afrin in the General Assembly of the Coalition, and Mr. Horo Othman, a committee member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria, visited and carried out activities next:

The first day of the visit
Meeting with representatives of the Kurdish National Council in all areas of Afrin, Afrin city, Jenderes, Rajo, Bulbul, Mabata, Shih and Bassouta
The second day
Visiting the headquarters of the BCF and meeting with the team working there
- Visiting the Peshmerga family, the family of the four Martyrs of Newroz, offering condolences in the name of the National Council, and offering the services of the Council to the family in order for the killers to receive their just punishment, as well as the Coalition's readiness to provide all possible efforts in this regard.
-Meeting with party representatives in both Jenderes and Shih in the city of Jenderes
- Visit the city of Bassouta and meet with party representatives
- Meeting with party representatives in Afrin
- Meeting with party representatives in Rajo
- Meeting with party representatives in Mabata
- Meeting with party representatives in Bulbul
- Meeting with a group of well-known national figures in Afrin

The focus of all meetings
Dr. Abdel Hakim Bachar explained the general political situation in the region and Syria and talked about the strategic necessity for the presence of the Kurds within the ranks of the opposition, specifically the coalition, as the unity of the Kurdish National Council in it makes the Kurds partners in the political solution and gives them a role in shaping the future of Syria and the Kurdish issue and explaining the negative repercussions of the Kurds’ distance from Opposition The doctor also talked about the joint efforts of the coalition, the Kurdish National Council, made within the coalition to facilitate the return of the people of Afrin and alleviate their suffering, as he stressed that their program is summarized in:

- Facilitating the return of displaced people from Afrin and returning their property to them
- Returning the property of the people of Afrin who have not obtained it yet
- Seeking to remove the militants from the cities to their own places and to remove the weapons once and for all from the cities
- Controlling security in cities through the civil police
Stopping all abuses against the people of Afrin, whether at the level of individuals or property, and refusing to completely cut down trees.
Dr. Hakim confirmed that all these issues were discussed in the coalition, and there are serious efforts in the coalition to address all these issues.
Dr. Hakim also listened to the people of Afrin, giving the opportunity to each of the understanding to talk about the suffering of the people of Afrin and their demands.
Their demands can be summarized as follows:
Strong criticism of the party and the council for neglecting the city of Afrin during the past years
Demanding the opening of offices for the council and the party in Afrin
- Demanding the need for the council to provide assistance to the returnees from Afrin and those wishing to return
They also handed a paper to Dr. Hakim that included their demands, which are in line with what the council seeks within the coalition and what the coalition plans to achieve security and safety.
He listened to the complaints of the families regarding the situation of some returnees and their inability to obtain their homes despite the court’s decisions, and they demanded the necessity of implementing the court’s decisions in this regard.
- They talked about the difficulties that the people of Afrin face in all the details, including the continued state of non-delivery of the property of some returnees, which constitutes the core of the problem, in addition to some abuses, as the doctor promised to raise them in the meetings of the Coalition and seek to solve them, and stressed that the Coalition and the Interim Government, through its institutions, are determined to achieve security in Afrin We are ready to receive all documented complaints in order to work to treat them.p
With regard to the availability of life necessities, it was noted that all materials are available such as bread, gasoline, diesel fuel, gas and the rest of the materials, as there is absolutely no shortage of these materials, unlike the rest of the regions in Syria. Electricity is also available 24/24 hours, and there were no purification operations, which started recently Electricity cuts only three hours a day.
Opinions were exchanged between the people of Afrin and the doctor about the general situation in Afrin and how to address the existing problems through the Coalition and the Interim Government and its institutions.
The readiness of the Council and its representatives, as well as the interim government and the coalition, to receive all documented complaints that have not been dealt with and resolved, in order to work on resolving them.
