ARK News… Statistics issued by the Ministry of Health of the Syrian regime reveal an increase in deaths and the number of people with strokes and myocardial infarctions among young people.

The Director General of the Heart Surgery Hospital in Damascus, Hossam Khader, said that the number of open-heart surgeries and catheterizations has increased from the normal rate over the past few years, as the hospital performs between 1,750 and 2,000 open-heart surgeries, and between 4,000 and 5,000 cardiac catheterizations annually.

He pointed out that about 50 percent of the total operations performed by the hospital staff are for young patients under the age of thirty, which confirms the increasing psychological pressures and accumulated disorders facing this group.

The growing rates of strokes among young people is due to the difficult life conditions and harsh living conditions that people face, and make them ignore the symptoms, as most of them discover strokes, of different types and location in the body, after a time has passed since their occurrence.
