ARK News… Kuwait decided to extend licenses to collect donations for foundations in the country for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, noting that the proceeds amounted to about 13 million dollars.

This came according to a press statement by the Minister of Social Affairs, May Al-Baghli, on Monday, according to the official Kuwait News Agency.

Al-Baghli explained, "Kuwaiti charities that have obtained licenses to collect donations have collected sums of money amounting to 4 million dinars."

The Minister of Social Affairs decided to "extend the licenses of the special relief campaign (granted to the foundation) to collect donations for those affected by earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, to complement Kuwait's efforts to provide assistance in this disaster."

In early March, Kuwait announced the take-off of the 13th relief plane for those affected by the earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria on February 6.

Since the earthquake, Kuwait continues to provide efforts to support those affected, most notably: Providing 30 million dollars to support Turkey and Syria (equally) from the Council of Ministers.

Minister Al-Baghli also visited Turkey on February 14 to show solidarity with the official "Kuwait is by your side" campaign, which collected more than 20.7 million dinars ($67.7 million) in one day.

Kuwait also dispatched 23 trucks loaded with blankets, tents, electrical appliances, and prefabricated houses.

On February 6, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 and the second measuring 7.6 degrees, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, killing tens of thousands, mostly in southern Turkey, in addition to massive destruction.
