ARK News… The United Nations World Food Program, on Friday, won the Nobel Peace Prize 2020 for its efforts in fighting world hunger.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that the program received the award this year for its efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon in war and conflicts.

The prize is worth 10 million Swedish kronor, or about $ 1.1 million, and will be awarded in Oslo on December 10.

In Geneva, a spokesperson for the World Food Program said it was a "proud moment" for the program and "what a great thing" for the program to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Spokesman Thompson Ferry added in a press conference: "The nomination itself was sufficient, but continuing with it and then announcing the Nobel Peace Prize, what a great thing."
