US accuses Russia of helping Syrian regime to conceal chemical munitions

Nov 29 2019

ARK News: The United States on Thursday accused Russia of helping Syria conceal the use of poisonous munitions banned in the civil war by undermining the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) aimed at identifying those responsible.

Moscow took the lead in denying comments by Kenneth Ward, the US representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which came amid a row between Russia and Western powers at the OPCW's international conference in the Hague.

Russia has cited for months two former WMO employees leaking a document and an e-mail as evidence that the organization had falsified the results of a March 1 report that found a toxic chemical containing chlorine gas was used in an attack near Damascus in 2018.
