Masrour Barzani Stresses Importance of Strengthening and Expanding Bilateral Cooperation Between Erbil and Beijing

ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Liu Jun, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, on Monday, September 21, 2026, on the occasion of the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the Chinese consul general expressed his gratitude for the hospitality he received and for the friendship of the people of Kurdistan, describing his experience in the Region as unforgettable and calling Kurdistan his “second home.”

Liu Jun reviewed the activities and programs of the Chinese Consulate General in the Kurdistan Region, particularly efforts to strengthen academic coordination between Chinese universities and universities in the Region, develop the Chinese automotive industry, and advance work on the construction of the new Chinese Consulate General building in Erbil.

For his part, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stressed the importance of strengthening and expanding prospects for bilateral cooperation between Erbil and Beijing across various fields. He thanked the Chinese consul general for his efforts during his tenure and wished him success in his future diplomatic assignments.
