Erdogan refuses to meet with Bolton

ARK News: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan refused to meet US national security adviser John Bolton.

Turkish media reported that Erdogan refused to meet Bolton and that the latter decided to leave Turkey, having held, on Tuesday, 8.1.2019 meeting with presidential spokesman and political assistant Ibrahim Kalin.

This development follows the Turkish president's protest against Bolton's recent statements about Syria in Israel, which he considered a "serious mistake".

The Expected meeting between the Turkish and American delegations ended in the Turkish capital of Ankara, away from the lenses of journalists.

The meeting lasted for two hours and 10 minutes, headed by Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin, and the US delegation led by National Security Adviser to the White House John Bolton.

The Turkish delegation included Kalin, Assistant Foreign Minister Sadat Unal, Assistant Minister of Defense Younis Imreh Kara Osman Oğlu, Assistant Chief of Intelligence Jamaluddin Chalik and other officials.

On the other hand, the Bolton delegation included US Army Chief of Staff Joseph Dunford and James Jeffrey, who is the Special Envoy to Syria and the US Special Envoy to the International Coalition against the terrorist organization of IS.

Earlier on Monday, the US delegation arrived, headed by National Security Adviser, John Bolton, to the Turkish capital, Ankara, for talks on the Syrian file and other issues.
