Commercial Shipping Through Strait of Hormuz Comes to a Complete Halt
ARK News.. Data cited by Bloomberg shows that commercial vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has come to a complete stop.
According to Bloomberg, the halt follows a slight uptick in maritime movement observed on Saturday.
Tehran confirmed earlier on Sunday, through statements by senior officials, that a “new system” is now governing the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the phase of “security enforcement has ended.”
These developments coincide with an announcement by the military spokesperson of Iran’s Khatem al-Anbiyaa Headquarters, who declared on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz has been re-closed, as was the case during the 40-day military conflict in the region.
The spokesperson stressed that the strait will remain under the control of the armed forces and subject to strict monitoring, noting that the continuity of this situation depends on the United States adhering to guarantees for the free movement of vessels to and from Iran.
