ARK News… The US State Department confirmed that the US administration will not normalize relations with the Syrian regime until progress is made towards a political solution, stressing that the sanctions are in full effect.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a press conference that the US State Department “does not comment when it comes to pending legislation,” stressing that “the US administration’s position is clear, which is that it will not normalize relations with the Syrian regime until tangible progress is made towards a political solution.” In accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254.”

Miller added that the US sanctions on the Syrian regime “remain in full effect,” noting that this is one of the parts of the law specifically against normalization with the Assad regime.

The US State Department spokesman stressed the United States' commitment "to use all available tools to enhance accountability in Syria, including by issuing sanctions under the Caesar Act and other laws."
