Syrian doctors top the list of foreign doctors in Germany

ARK News… Syrian doctors still occupy first place as the largest group of foreign doctors who do not hold a German passport, as their number has reached the highest level ever.

The German television network ARD said, “The shortage of doctors in Germany is still large, and one of the solutions to this problem may be doctors coming from abroad, whose number has already doubled compared to 2013.”

For its part, the newspapers of the "Funke" media group quoted statistics from the German Medical Association that the number of doctors who do not hold a German passport has reached its highest levels ever. At the end of last year there were 63,763 doctors, and accordingly, the number has doubled compared to 2013. At that time, there were about 30 thousand.

According to the numbers, most doctors who do not hold a German passport come from European Union countries or other European countries, as well as from Middle Eastern countries.

Syrians topped the list of foreign doctors in Germany, as their number, according to the latest statistics of the German Medical Association, reached 6,120 Syrian doctors, while doctors coming from Romania came in second place, numbering 4,668 doctors, followed by Austria (2,993) and Greece (2,943). Russia (2941), and Turkey (2628).
