ARK News... The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, on Monday, May 22, 2023, confirmed that the presence of PKK has hindered the implementation of many projects in Akre in the Kurdistan Region and the return of the people to their villages.

This came in a speech he made during his visit to the city of Akre to announce a number of strategic projects, including the announcement of the establishment of the Akre University of Applied Sciences, and the establishment of a university in the Garmiyan region under the name of the Garmiyan Polytechnic University (Garmiyan Technical University).

The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, called on the PKK to respect the law and the sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region and not to impede the return of the people to their villages.

He continued that the implementation of the oil agreement recently signed with the federal government will be a gateway to good for all of Iraq, indicating that the region has fulfilled its obligations and is waiting for Baghdad to fulfill its duties and pledges.

In his speech, the Prime Minister touched on a number of issues, including those related to the relationship with the federal government, and said that the Kurdistan Region made strenuous efforts with the new federal government with the aim of reaching an agreement related to oil issues, the budget and all other outstanding issues with Baghdad.

He added, "The region has fulfilled its obligations and more than that, and we are waiting for the federal government headed by Mr. Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani to fulfill its obligations, and to implement the oil agreement properly, as this matter will not only be in the interest of the Kurdistan Region, but It will be a good gateway for all of Iraq."

The prime minister stated that approving the draft federal budget law in the Iraqi parliament would open another door from an economic point of view, especially since the Kurdistan Region faced enormous economic pressure during this period.

He continued, "As you know, we have not exported the Kurdistan Region's oil for about two months, and despite that, we did not allow the projects in the region to stop."

The prime minister indicated that the Kurdistan Region expects the federal government to implement its obligations regarding the rights and financial entitlements of the region, without difference and discrimination.
