ARK News… The number of civilian deaths has risen to 97, as a result of clashes between the army and the "Rapid Support" forces, in Sudan, according to what the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors announced, on Monday.

It said in a statement, "The initial death toll on Sunday reached 41," adding: "With this, the number of civilian deaths since the beginning of the clashes rose to 97, and the number of injuries to 942, and these numbers include civilians and military personnel."

The committee called for "the voice of reason to be arbitrated, to stop this war immediately, and to allow the opening of safe passages for the evacuation of detainees, stranded people, and the wounded."

And Sudanese doctors appealed, at dawn on Monday, to the fighting forces to move away from hospitals and not to use them as human shields and military sites.

The Sudan Doctors Syndicate said in a statement: "In these difficult circumstances, some forces use hospitals as focal points to target other forces, which puts the safety of patients and workers at great risk and exposes hospitals to the risk of bombing and destruction."

It added, "We call on all forces of both sides of the conflict to stay away from hospitals and not use them as human shields."

For its part, the Committee of "Sudan Doctors" stated, in another statement, that "hospitals in the capital, Khartoum, are living under the weight of the war, in difficult and extremely complex conditions, such as isolation and interruption of the supply of medical personnel, aids, and medical consumables."
It continued: "We call on the warring parties to adhere to the basic ethics and principles of dealing with health institutions in times of war and to refrain from using them as military sites to confront the other party."
