The declared cease-fire from the Russian side comes into effect
ARK News… The cease-fire declared by Russia in the areas of the special military operation entered into force at midday, Friday, and will continue until the end of Saturday, January 7.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Thursday, ordered a cease-fire along the entire front line between the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 Moscow time on January 6 until 24:00 on January 7.
Putin also called on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and allow Orthodox citizens to attend services on Christmas Eve and the holiday.
On Thursday, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was instructed to stop firing at the line of contact between the two parties in Ukraine.
Earlier on Thursday, the Patriarch of Moscow, Kirill, called for a Christmas truce so that Orthodox Christians could attend services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
For its part, Kyiv rejected the Russian president's initiative for a temporary ceasefire.
