A statement about PYD preventing the leaders of the Kurdish National Council from crossing through the Semalka crossing
ARK News... In early 2013, the leadership of the Kurdistan Region opened the Pish Khabour-Semalka crossing, in response to the Kurdish National Council's call for it, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the Kurdish people in Syria and the general population of the region, in light of the siege imposed on them by the regime and their targeting by terrorist organizations.
Since that time, the crossing has provided many services to the people of the region in the humanitarian and medical fields, providing the necessary foodstuffs and trade movement, and has facilitated communication between the families and relatives of those who headed towards the Kurdistan Region as their only outlet.
The Kurdish National Council, along with many parties, has always called for protecting this crossing and investing in it to serve all people and all components and has refused to use it for political agendas.
However, the PYD authorities, who took control of the crossing and run it from the Syrian side, in continuation of their violations and their practice of a policy of restricting freedoms and political action, especially against the Kurdish National Council, and its supporters, from time to time prevent members of the leadership of the Council and the Peace and Freedom Front from crossing through this crossing within the framework of what they practice. pressure on the council, in a way that contradicts the most basic humanitarian rules.
The Kurdish National Council, while emphasizing the importance of this crossing, and the services it provides in many vital areas for citizens, condemns the PYD authorities' actions to prevent the crossing of members of the Council's leadership and others, and to put many obstacles in front of others, and in this regard it calls on public opinion and the international coalition led by the United States of America, putting pressure on the PYD and preventing it from committing violations, placing the crossing at the service of everyone without discrimination, and not using it for its political agendas.
