An appeal from the local council of ENKS in Afrin

ARK News… Corona Covid 19 is sweeping the region in the form of an epidemic

Despite the expansion of the vaccination campaign and the increasing demand by citizens to receive the vaccine during the past few months, the epidemic, especially the mutated Delta strain (fast-spreading and most ferocious), has swept the areas of northwestern Syria under Turkish control from Idlib in the west to Jarablis in the east.

The Afrin region was classified during the month of September, according to the information of the Acu Support Coordination Unit, as a very high-risk area, as the recorded number of injuries daily reached dozens, and sometimes hundreds, with the increasing number of deaths, which led to the inability of the available health facilities to respond to the aggravating situation and receive new cases.

Despite this extremely worrying situation, it is noticed that the behaviors and manifestations indicate the extent of the belittling and contempt by a wide spectrum of citizens (whether the original inhabitants of the area or the displaced).

We in the local council of Afrin of the Kurdish National Council in Syria appeal to fellow citizens to show a spirit of responsibility and follow the instructions issued by health authorities, especially the World Health Organization, who is concerned with preventing and limiting the spread of this epidemic.

We call on the local councils and the rest of the concerned authorities, in a coordinated manner, to take the necessary measures and issue the necessary decisions, for example, measures regarding the movement of citizens between different regions - canceling the weekly markets - preventing the setting up of tents and the establishment of funeral councils .... etc. as measures temporary.

We also call on the Turkish state, as it is responsible for managing the affairs of these areas, to implement an emergency plan and establish fully-equipped field hospitals in response to the seriousness of the situation.
