A delegation from ENKS receives US Deputy Envoy David Brownstein

ARK News… A delegation from the Kurdish National Council, consisting of Dr. Abdul Hakim Bashar, Ibrahim Biro, Saeed Omar, On Monday morning April 19, 2021, received Deputy Envoy to the US President, Mr. David Brownstein, and his accompanying delegation, they are the gentlemen: The political official at the US Consulate in Hawler, Mr. Morgan Hall, and Mr. Mark Redmond, from the political staff of the Consulate.

The discussion revolved around the situation in Syria, the political process in Geneva, and the American vision for a solution in Syria, which is based on Security Council Resolution 2254, and the regime's evasion from the political process, as well as the administration of the areas controlled by the SDF in Syria.

The two sides agreed that the ongoing war and the economic situation further complicates the political scene and do not serve the political solution in Syria. It also increases the rift between the components of the Syrian society. The council’s delegation also expressed its rejection of any form of demographic change.

As for the American perception on managing the eastern Euphrates region, the American side emphasized the need to meet with the Kurdish National Council in Syria in order to find out its view in this regard, and stressed the need for balanced representation and real partnership in this issue to include all components of the region and its political forces and emphasized on the necessity of the actual participation of the Council in the administration, which will contribute to administrative and financial transparency and democratization of administration.

For its part, the council delegation emphasized that the restoration of political life, stability, the return of the displaced, the rejection of demographic change, and the return of the Peshmerga promoted a guarantee for the balance of administration in these areas and that the Kurdish region has its national specificity that must be taken into account.

The council’s delegation also called on the US delegation to support legitimate Kurdish rights in international forums and in the political process in Geneva.
