ARK News: The United Nations envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, pointed, on last Thursday that there were about 10,000 "terrorists" in the Idlib region of northern Syria.
"A large number of foreign fighters are concentrated in Idlib, including an estimated 10,000 terrorists, but he said it would be better to set up a humanitarian corridor to evacuate civilians rather than engage in a battle that could turn into a disaster," he told journalists, according to Reuters.
The United Nations has also called on Russia, Iran, and Turkey to prevent a battle in the Syrian province of Idlib that would affect millions of civilians and both of them could use chlorine gas.
In the same context, the same agency quoted, from a close source from the Syrian regime that the forces of the regime are preparing for a phased attack in the province of Idlib and surrounding areas in the north-west of the country.
Russia said that "the militants must be killed there, and they have been described by Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov as an abscess."
The source, who is an official of the regional alliance supporting the regime, said that the attack would initially target the southern and western parts of the opposition-controlled territory, not Idlib city itself.
He added that the final touches to the first stage will be completed in the coming hours, without mentioning when the attack would begin. He mentioned that the negotiations were still underway over the attack between Russia and Turkey as well as Iran, which supports the Syrian regime.
