ARK News: The Anatolia news agency, quoting "unnamed" sources, said that Iran had established new armed militias in Syria to fight alongside the Syrian regime.

The agency said that the militias have been dubbed the "Mahdi’s Lions", and the number of their fighters is about 200 from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The agency pointed out that those militias were subjected to training courses in Hama, before being sent to the city of Deir Al-Zour, where they will be stationed, according to the source.

Iran has many militias affiliated with or part of it funded by foreign fighters from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran.

It is noteworthy that the Iranian militias in Syria had formed armed groups affiliated with them called "the Army of Villages", and they are members of sons of the Deir Al-Zour region.
