ARK News… The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government discussed with a delegation from the US Senate ways to strengthen bilateral relations, the latest developments in Iraq, and the importance of preserving the constitutional rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region.

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, received a delegation from the US Senate that included Senators Ted Budd and Joni Ernst.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, the latest developments in Iraq, and the importance of preserving the constitutional rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region.

The US Senate delegation renewed its support for the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.

For his part, the Prime Minister expressed his thanks to the United States for its continued support, especially its support for the Peshmerga.

He stressed the need to address the controversial issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government based on the provisions of the Constitution and the signed agreements, as well as respect for the principles of the federal system and the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region.

The two sides discussed the Kurdistan Parliament elections file, and in this regard, the importance of holding free, transparent and fair elections that guarantee the participation of all parties and preserve the rights of the components was emphasized.
