ARK News: The Kurdish political figure from Syrian Kurdistan and the secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party, Abdul Hamid Darwish, died at dawn on Thursday, at the age of 83.

Hamid Haj Darwish was born in 1936 in the village of "Kahramania" in the Derbasiya area in Syrian Kurdistan and was the secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria.

Hamid Haj Darwish was one of the founders of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, founded in 1957, he was repeatedly exposed to arresting by the Syrian regime, and when the Syrian government arrested the party's leadership, Hamid Haj Darwish took over the party's leadership.

Hamid Haj Darwish contributed to the establishment of the Kurdish National Council in Syria in October 2011. He was one of the founders of the relations between the Kurdish National Council and the Syrian opposition coalition, as well as establishing several opposition political forums and workshops in the early years of the Syrian revolution.

The Central Committee of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria announced that Haj Darwish will be buried in his hometown in the village of Kahramaniya of the city of Derbasiya, at 10 am on Friday, October 25, where the funeral procession will take place in front of the March 12 stadium in Qamishlo.

The party's central committee said the funeral ceremony will be held in Qamishlo city for three days from Thursday.
