Referring to the US government's actions against the Iranian regime due to the suppression of the Iranian people's protests and the cooperation of Tehran and Moscow, Ned Price emphasized the continuation and tightening of these measures.
The Democratic senator also called on Iranian activists not to surrender to the regime, praising the Iranian chess player Sarah, who left for Spain, and said, "The chess player Sarah and her ilk must choose between defending the basic level of human rights or returning to their country," and warned, "The Iranian regime offers few options to those who not be suppressed.”

Source for ARK: Shooting to limit Kurdish farmers' access to their fields and their loss of livelihood
ARK News... The village of Kafr Zeit, in the city of Afrin, in Syrian Kurdistan, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, witnessed live bullets to prevent farmers from reaching their fields and losing their livelihoods.
The Kurdish farmers in the aforementioned village, and the neighboring villages, woke up to the impact of cutting trees with chainsaws and machines that run on fuel, at night, which led to the farmers going down to the fields to lose their livelihoods and limit the unjust cutting.
A source from the village told ARK that the farmers were surrounded by live bullets, to limit their access to agricultural fields and to reveal those involved. The number of damaged trees was not disclosed, but the village is under the control of the Hamzat faction of the Syrian National Army.
The unjust cutting has become the most prominent title of the ongoing daily events and violations in the Afrin region, a region that is famous for hosting millions of olive trees, fruits, cypresses, pine trees, and other species.
Every day, Kurdish farmers wake up to the impact of violations from the unjust cutting of olive trees, the only source for Kurdish farmers. The trade-in firewood has become a pioneering trade, as one ton is sold in Afrin for $70, while it is sold for $150 in each of Idlib and Izaz.
Near the military hospital and the headquarters of the military police in the city of Afrin, the Arabs, with the protection of the armed factions, cut down more than forty trees few days ago, belonging to a Kurdish farmer. While the Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction of the National Army, on December 27, 2022, cut down a number of olive and cypress trees in the vicinity of the factories. Al Berin is near the city, according to the ARK source.
Organizations and activists confirm that more than one and a half million olive trees and other fruitless trees were cut down at the beginning of Turkey and the armed invasion's 2018 control of the city and its towns and villages, without any of the perpetrators facing trial or prosecution.

Hassan to ARK: Syrians, Kurds, and Arabs, have suffered scourge from the criminal regime, and a new uprising is necessary
ARK News... Sakina Hassan, a leader in the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria Al-Party, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, said that the Syrian people, Kurds, and Arabs, have faced scourge from the criminal, dictatorial regime, and there must be a new uprising against it and solidarity with the people of As-Suwaidaa.
The Kurdish leadership said that As-Suwaidaa distanced itself from joining the revolution because of the regime's insistence on convincing minorities that the revolution was a Sunni sectarian, so it distanced itself, but it did not stand with the regime either and stood on the fence.
Hassan indicated during her participation in the Ark newsletter that the Syrian cities from Daraa to Derik were affected by the criminal, dictatorial regime and suffered scourge, and the lack of basic necessities for living made the As-Suwaidaa governorate start protests and demand the overthrow of the regime and find a solution in accordance with Resolution 2254.
She expressed her solidarity with the protests, stressing that the regime is clinically dead and living in a state of recovery. If the dire situation continues, the Syrian people will rise up again, and all Syrians must move and show solidarity with As-Suwaidaa because the people are fed up with the lack of security and the most basic means of living.

Aliko to ARK: The Kurds, the opposition and the revolutionaries are the ones affected by the Turkish normalization with the regime
ARK News... Fouad Aliko, a member of the Political Committee of the Kurdistan Yakiti Party - Syria, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, said that Turkey is seeking to extend the text of the Adana Agreement from 5 km to 30 km inside Syrian territory.
Aliko said during his participation in the ARK newsletter that the fate of 8 million Syrians is linked to Turkey's reconciliation with the regime, and because of the opposition of America, Russia, and Iran to the Turkish ground military operation, the latter wants to activate the Adana Agreement and amend its text to 30 km in order to legitimize its entry into Syrian territory.
He continued that Turkey made concessions to the Syrian regime, and the aim of Turkish normalization with the regime is to withdraw the pressure card from the Turkish opposition, which plays on this chord, especially with the approaching June Turkish elections, and the Syrian regime also has its conditions such as handing over areas controlled by Turkey, handing over people from the opposition and opening international roads and crossings.
He pointed out that Turkey's withdrawal from the regions in the implementation of the regime's conditions is the weakest scenario and will create more chaos because millions of Syrians reject the Turkish rapprochement with the Syrian regime, and the regions will witness bombing and a new war unless the negotiations lead to a truce on how to find a solution in accordance with Resolution 2254.
He made it clear that the regime needs Turkey, but its position is strong, and although the opposition has not issued an explicit position, it cannot oppose Turkish decisions regarding normalization.
At the end of his speech, he said that the results of normalization with the regime are disastrous for the Kurds and the revolution, especially if Turkey succeeds in extending the text of the Adana Agreement from 5 km to 30 km, and it will lead to the creation of a new state of asylum, displacement, and homelessness.

The attendees discussed the latest developments in the field situation and political developments related to the Syrian file. Al-Muslet affirmed that Turkey is a strong ally of the Syrian revolution and opposition forces, and a great supporter of the aspirations of the Syrians to achieve freedom, dignity, and democracy, expressing his hope that Turkey will remain so, and that its steps will be in favor of these aspirations through implementing the political solution approved by all international resolutions on the Syrian issue, particularly the Geneva Resolutions 2118 and 2254.

Al-Muslet explained that the Assad regime bears full responsibility for what happened and is happening in Syria, by relying on killing, repression, terrorism, and drugs in order to remain in power, and it also relies on deception and procrastination to obstruct any political process related to Syria.
Al-Muslet thanked Turkey and all the countries hosting the Syrian refugees and stressed that what Turkey, in particular, and the countries hosting Syrian refugees provided, cannot be forgotten and is a debt on the shoulders of all the Syrian people, stressing that the real solution to the refugee problem is to achieve a political transition and provide a safe and stable environment that guarantees voluntary and safe return of refugees.
During the meetings, he stressed their adherence to the demands of the Syrian people and the principles of the Syrian revolution, which the Syrian people are still taking out in continuous demonstrations in the north and south to express and demand them, which is a trust that cannot be forfeited until the goals of the Syrian revolution are fully achieved.
