Yashar Guler sets conditions for Turkey to withdraw from Syria

Yashar Guler sets conditions for Turkey to withdraw from Syria

Sep 30 2023

ARK News… Turkish Defense Minister Yashar Guler renewed his country's position on the Syrian regime, stressing that the "withdrawal" demand repeated by the latter is unrealistic, and that it must take steps regarding the return of refugees.

Guler said in an interview with the Turkish newspaper “Hurriyat”: “Why should we leave Syria? We will do so after ensuring the security of our borders and providing a peaceful environment that facilitates the return of the Syrians.”

The Turkish minister added, “The Syrian regime must fulfill certain promises and take steps to ensure security or support steps so that Syrian citizens can return to their country voluntarily and in peace.”

Yashar Guler added: “Return to Syria is not possible just by saying it,” because those who fled the Syrian regime’s massacre do not trust it, and want to believe that their lives and property are guaranteed when they return to the country.

Guler pointed out: “The most appropriate solution is to complete the constitutional discussions, then hold elections that include all segments of society, form a government, and then direct the invitation to citizens.”

The Turkish minister explained: Turkey is ready to return to the negotiating table, referring to the quadripartite meetings.

Guler set conditions for withdrawal, most notably the establishment of a “safe zone” in northern Syria, holding elections and accepting the constitution, “which the Syrian regime must do now.”

According to the Turkish minister, his country “does not need anyone’s land...but when there are 4 million Syrians in our country, how will we leave?”

Adding: “Can we leave that place without providing a safe environment?”

The migration route takes away three more people from Syrian Kurdistan

The migration route takes away three more people from Syrian Kurdistan

Sep 30 2023

ARK News… The families of Kamiran Ahmed and Walid Qasim, who were from Kobani city, learned of their death after losing contact with them more than three months ago off the Greek shores.

More than three months ago, they wanted to reach a European country, but communication with them was cut off, and through a DNA test, they were identified, according to a source from the city of Kobani.

In another incident, the family of engineer Silava Mustafa Adde, who hails from the village of Ghazawiya in the city of Afrin in Syrian Kurdistan, told ARK that she died on the Belarusian border during her asylum journey to Europe.

The young woman's uncle added that the engineer was residing in Lebanon with her family, studied in Lebanon and graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, and because of fatigue and exhaustion, she died during a failed smuggling attempt from Belarus to a European country.

Due to the war raging in Syria since 2011, families are trying to escape to safer countries, and hundreds of young Kurdish young men and families seek every day to secure a decent life in countries that provide the best for them and their children. During the journey to arrive illegally, many are exposed to killing, drowning, looting, theft, exploitation, trafficking, and accidents. A journey in which they lose their lives and the hope of escaping the hell of war and living in countries where the simplest necessities of life are available is buried with them.

The fate of hundreds of young Kurds remains unknown amid appeals from their families to humanitarian and charitable organizations and relevant authorities to reveal the fate of the missing and provide any information about them.

Afrin… More than three families return to Afrin region

Afrin… More than three families return to Afrin region

Sep 30 2023

ARK News… The return of displaced and refugee Kurdish families to their hometown of Afrin and its towns and villages continues, the most recent of which is the return of three Kurdish families according to information received, on Friday, September 29, 2023.

A Kurdish activist who preferred to remain anonymous reported in exclusive statements to ARK that three families returned within two days to the villages of Qasim, Karre and Kura.

The source confirmed that the families returned from Turkey and the Al Shahba camps in the Aleppo countryside.

The past few months have witnessed the unprecedented return of displaced Kurdish families in Aleppo and those displaced in the Al Shahba camps, as well as refugees in Lebanon, Turkey and the Kurdistan Region.

After the Afrin war, more than 300,000 Kurds were displaced to the Al-Shahba camps, and they became victims of the PYD administration’s policy controlling the camps and the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiya neighborhoods in Aleppo, which prevents the displaced from making their decision to return or head to other areas.

Despite the horrific violations taking place in Afrin, the displaced Kurds decided to return to their hometown, especially after more than five years had passed since they remained in the camps in the Aleppo countryside.

Politicians call for the need to return to limit demographic change in the region.

Statement from the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate - Syria
On the tenth anniversary of its founding, the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate - Syria, on September 19, issued a statement, affirming, “The PYD administration looks with adversity and hostility at every journalist who does not intersect with its ideas, and there are still Kurdish journalists in its basements and prisons. The administration’s authorities are obstructing the work of journalists, among them, more than a month ago, was the journalist Barzan Layani”.

For its part, the Syrian Journalists Association called for the immediate release of our colleague Barzan Hussein, and while expressing its full solidarity with his family, it appeals at the same time to all journalists, institutions, media bodies, and human rights organizations in northeastern Syria in particular and Syria in general to exert pressure for his release, and to preserve freedom of the press. And protect all journalists.”
