ARK News.. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that it had shelled a US unmanned boat at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, thwarting the boat’s mission.

According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, the boat targeted on Thursday, September 10, 2026, was a surface vessel of the “Saildrone Explorer” type, measuring about seven meters in length. It has a high endurance at sea and is equipped with cameras, communication systems, and various sensors to carry out reconnaissance and surveillance missions and enhance maritime domain awareness.

The IRGC Navy added that this type of boat had previously been used by the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet and Task Force 59, which it said was based in Bahrain and was established to develop a network of unmanned boats and artificial intelligence systems for the US Navy.

The Iranian Navy continued that the US naval base in Bahrain had come under Iranian attacks during the war, causing it to be taken out of service, while the “Saildrone Explorer” boat is currently being operated by a unit stationed in the Khasab area of the Sultanate of Oman.
