Netanyahu’s Office: Deployment of Turkish Forces in Syria Threatens Israel’s Security
ARK News.. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Syria’s approval of the deployment of Turkish forces at a military base in northeastern Syria constitutes a threat to Israel’s security. The statement came following airstrikes on Abu al-Duhour Airbase, which Damascus and Washington said were carried out by Israel.
In a statement, Netanyahu’s office said: “Israel and Syria agreed on a status quo regarding security matters, and Syria was on the verge of violating it by agreeing to the deployment of Turkish forces at an airbase near Aleppo.”
The statement added: “Israel repeatedly warned Syria that such a deployment would threaten Israel’s security. Syria chose to ignore these warnings.”
Netanyahu’s office stressed that Israel “will not tolerate any threats to its security,” adding that it would welcome a return to the status quo.
