UN Expresses Concern Over Wildfires in Latakia
ARK News.. The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Syria has expressed sorrow and concern over the wildfires sweeping through Latakia’s countryside.
In a statement, Adam Abdul Moula, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria, said UN teams are on the ground conducting urgent assessments to determine the scale of the disaster and immediate humanitarian needs. He affirmed the UN’s readiness to provide emergency support in coordination with partners.
Abdul Moula also emphasized the UN’s commitment to supporting local authorities and delivering timely assistance. He noted the organization’s preparedness to dispatch a joint mission to Latakia to further assess the situation and explore both immediate and long-term support options.
The wildfires in Latakia have forced hundreds of families to flee and have caused widespread damage to agricultural lands and infrastructure.
