Lebanese Army Seizes Grad Rockets Smuggled from Syria
ARK News.. The Lebanese Army announced the seizure of 122 mm Grad rockets in the Arsal Highlands in northeastern Lebanon, saying the rockets had been smuggled from Syria into Lebanese territory.
Members of the alleged smuggling network were also arrested. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, the army said that, as part of ongoing security operations targeting cross-border smuggling along Lebanon's northern and eastern frontiers, one of its units intercepted the shipment in the Arsal Highlands.
The army added that troops also confiscated ammunition and other military equipment. The suspects have been referred to the competent judicial authorities for legal proceedings.
Arms smuggling across the Syrian-Lebanese border remains an ongoing security challenge despite continued efforts by both countries to curb and prevent cross-border trafficking.
